Colourful rock exposure

This was taken where a cutting had been made to build a road into a newly-planted block of forestry.

  1. The orange stains suggest that ferrrous iron in the rock is being oxidised to rust already. What is the location the rock type, and the scale? Do you know anything about the geology?

I much regret never having phtographed the exposures over 30 years ago when they widened the A82 beside Loch Lomond. Beautiful compression folding on several scales. But all rusted over lat tme Ivisited.
